St andrews have won the A division Rugby Cup for the first time in 17 years after one of the players scored a 30 yard kick and run after a 7 point run and freeshot from the skipper had made it 10-10.

This player was the hero as he scored the last minute run and thus win the match or ST ANDREWS!

It had looked they would suffer cup heartache after RJC had taken a 10-3 lead midway through the second half, but the skipper pulled them back from the brink with a superb 5 yard run in the last 1o mins. He then scored a magnificent freekick to make the score 10-10.

There was good news for the St Andrews prior to kick off when RJC player injured himself before the start of this rugby Cup Final.

It was ST andrews who made most of the early running and we'd had only a minute when RJC's surging run down the right brought a rash tackle and a free kick for st andrews in a dangerous position. St andrew's free kick taker came up confidently and floated in a beautiful freekick, opening the scoring book to 3-0.

The RJians responded with a run, but St Andrews were quickly back on the attack and a foul on RJ lead to a free kick that needed a brave catch from a st andrews defender who quickly cleared it.

RJ were slowly working their way into the game and they began to cause st andrews problems. And they gave the Saints a real problem when they took the lead courtesy of an mistakle from Saints defender. It came when RJ broke free on the left and in trying to spear him, RJ dodge the spear and ran to the line to make the score 3-5. However, he missed a sitter that could have brought RJ to 3-7.

The Saints came out for the second half with thoughts of an equalizer, but they had a superb double stop from Kairul to thank for keeping them in the game . It seemed inevitable RJ would score has he ran from point blank range, but Kairul saved and then got up to spear the RJ player beofre his follow up.

The Saints were rocked and hopes of a Rugby Cup success seemed to be evaporating when RJ made it 3-10 through Golden Hair Boy in the second half. Golden Hiar Boy getting his chance to score from close range after Saints had only been able to parry RJ's kick.

The RJsians scented victory, but they would have their hard work was undone in the middle of the second half when a stupid foul caused the RJ midfielder to get sent off. It's unlikely RJ was intending to do anything but play dirty, when he elbowed and punched a Saints player. He previously had already gotten another yellow card when he takled a Saints from behind.

It proved to be a pivotal moment in the game because we then had Saint's best spell of the game and they got themselves level with a brilliant Run . It came after the winger steamed in to smash in the free try after his run.

You wondered if Saints could win the game and as the clock ticked down it looked unlikely. But just when it looked like it's going into extra time, Kairul produced a moment of absolute magic with a35 yard pass that hit the RJ player to allow Saints to have a throw in just 1 yard from the touch down point.

Kairul must have been fully 40 yards out when he smashed a volley towards the touchdown line. It must be one of the best crosses ever seen in the Rugby Cup. The Saints manage to complete the run after the throw in to cause the biggest upset in Rugby History in Singapore. Saints lead RJ 15-10.

However, the last try of the day saw Saints missing the 2 point freekick but in the end, it really didn't mattered.

What a season it's been. Saints can sign off knowing it's been hugely successful.
